Stay legal and protected with Tint352’s guide to Florida’s current tint regulations.
🚓 Legal Tint Limits in Florida (2025)
Florida law regulates window tint based on Visible Light Transmission (VLT%), which is the percentage of light allowed through both the film and the glass. Requirements vary by vehicle type:
🚗 Sedans
• Windshield: Non-reflective tint allowed only above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line
• Front Side Windows: Must allow at least 28% of visible light
• Back Side Windows: Must allow at least 15% of visible light
• Rear Window: Must allow at least 15% of visible light
🚙 SUVs and Vans
• Windshield: Same as sedans—non-reflective tint above the AS-1 line
• Front Side Windows: Must allow at least 28% of visible light
• Back Side Windows & Rear Window: Must allow at least 6% of visible light
🌞 Reflectivity Rules
• Front and Back Side Windows: Must not be more than 25% reflective
• Mirrored or metallic finishes are prohibited
🩺 Medical Exemptions
Florida allows medical exemptions for individuals with conditions requiring additional UV protection. Drivers must carry documentation and ensure their tint complies with the exemption guidelines.
⚠️ Penalties for Non-Compliance
Violating Florida’s tint laws can result in:
• Fines
• Fix-it tickets
• Potential issues during vehicle inspections or resale
